Weerasethakul will be present at the festival to present Primitive and will be leading a filmmaking masterclass on 24 September.

The installation and the film are both part of the multi-platform Primitive project which focuses on a concept of remembrance and extinction set in the northeast of Thailand. Boonmee is the main character of the feature film of the project.

Primitive was commissioned by Haus der Kunst, Munich, FACT, Liverpool and Animate Projects. Produced by Illuminations Films and Kick the Machine Films.
