Synopsis

I primarily make animated video works, incorporating photography, drawing and cut-out collage. My work explores the variety, eclectic nature and strangeness underlying everyday things and actions. The main theme of my work lies in provoking a wide range of understandings behind existing facts, thoughts, materials and meanings.

My recent work Allegory of Mrs. Triangle is an animated portrait of an imaginary character, Mrs. Triangle. The video is concerned with the complexity of one persona and the different aspects of personality. This is done with an abstract storyline, encouraging the audience to evoke new possibilities of understanding the work in their distinctive way.

Technical Details

Photography, old archives of lithograph, hand-drawn elements are used for stop-frame cut-out collage animation. All the filmed materials are edited in After Effects.

Composer

Gameshow Outpatient is the pseudonym of British composer Matt Rogers.

While his work manifests itself in a hugely diverse array of forms, encompassing contemporary classical concert music and opera, experimental work with live electronics, chip-tune and installation work, at the heart of every piece is the same, singular gestural language, desire to understand musical cultures through direct engagement with them and belief that the only true complexity in music exists within the listener.

Matt has written for and with a host of leading instrumentalists, ensembles and technologists creating music and installations for the concert hall, theatre, clubs and gallery spaces.

He has created work in Japan, in residence with Tokyo Wonder Site, and is artist in residence at the Southbank Centre, London in 2011.
