The Crafts Council will be previewing film-based works from their forthcoming exhibition, Real to Reel: Film as material in making, in three thematic programmes. The screening will take place at designjunction a bespoke pop-up cinema designed by architects Carmody Groake as part of the London Design Festival.
One of their three programmes is ANIMATED CRAFT, which consists a selection of animations curated by Animate Projects' Associate Director, Gary Thomas. This series of 18 minute film reel will be shown on a loop from 8:30am on 19 September and from 2pm on 21 September.
The animations in the programme are:
1 Le fiamme di Nule, Carolina Melis, 7’40”
2 Turntable, Jim Le Fevre, 34”
3 Heavy Pencil, Jim Le Fevre , 1’26”
4 Morling and the Hoard, Katharine Morling, 2’49”
5 Mr. Watt (Grumpy Man of Metal), Jon Mills, 1’38”
6 The Little Red Plane, Charlotte Blacker, 3’39”
Real to Reel: Film as material in making is Craft Councils' new touring exhibition which explores films that are a final product of contemporary makers’ practice; each an artwork in its own right. All of the films are concerned with craft and design thematically, technically or materially.
Details of the full film programme can be found here.
