Apichatpong Weerasethakul's A Letter to Uncle Boonmee features in The view from elsewhere, an exhibition presented by the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, in partnership with Queensland Art Gallery.

'The view from elsewhere' exhibition features contemporary video art and cinema practice from across Asia and the Middle East, comprising a series of film and video screenings presented in the Australian Cinematheque, and a related exhibition of installed video works, 'Small acts', in the Media Gallery.

'The view from elsewhere' is a cinema-based exhibition of digital feature film, documentary, shorts, experimental film and video art, and showcases works that address particular aesthetic, social and political contexts, while extending the possibilities of cinematic and artistic expression. Artists and filmmakers include Sasithorn Ariyavicha, Soon-mi Yoo, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Abbas Kiarostami, Ranu Ghosh, Amos Gitaï, Hu Jie, Jocelyne Saab and Wang Jianwei.

The exhibition and film screening programme is curated by Kathryn Weir, Head of International Art and the Australian Cinémathèque, Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, in collaboration with Mark Nash, Head of Department, Contemporary Art, Royal College of Art, London.
