This is the first London solo exhibition by Apichatpong Weerasethakul (b.1970), a distinctive artist and filmmaker who creates work for both cinema and gallery exhibition. A regular of the Cannes Film festival, and a nominee for the 2010 Hugo Boss Prize, Weerasethakul has created Phantoms of Nabua, an ethereal portrait of a town in north east Thailand, using natural and artificial light to exude the comfort of home, a sense of destruction, and to explore place and memory.

Phantoms of Nabua is part of the multi-platform Primitive project, which focuses on a concept of remembrance and extinction. Commissioned by Animate Projects, with Haus der Kunst, Munich and FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology).
