Animate Projects: Animation Night will be a one off special event at the Barbican. It will include a gallery talk from Gary Thomas, Director of Animate Projects who will provide an overview of experimental practice in the UK over the last 20 years followed by a screening of short films.
Following at 7.30pm, Animate Projects has invited the makers of some of its most critically acclaimed and popular commissions to reflect on where they’ve been, what’s inspired them, and to look forward to animation’s future. The discussion is led by Adam Pugh, research curator for Watch Me Move, and we hope the audience join in.
Animators on the panel include Elizabeth Hobbs, Stuart Hilton, Chris Shepherd and Tim Webb. Each artist will present one of their animated films and a second short film, which has inspired them during their career.
Films:
Dad’s Dead (Chris Shepherd, 6’36”, 2002)
15th February (Tim Webb, 6’35” 1995)
The Emperor (Elizabeth Hobbs, 4’20”, 2001)
Save Me (Stuart Hilton, 6’10”, 1994)
plus more
