Biography

Stuart is a filmmaker and sound artist, and is Programme Leader Media Production at University College Plymouth Marjon. After years of freelancing in TV, he now divides his time between his production company Sundog Media and lecturing. His work has ranged from aerial camerawork to the underwater sequences featured in the video performance Deepend at the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol. Recent projects include post-production and sound design for Barbara Holub’s film More Opportunities (2007) and Anna Best’s film Buddleia (2007), for Plymouth Arts Centre; and edited the AHRC-funded film Vauxhall Pleasure (2009) for Paul Whitty and Anna Best.

In his practice Stuart uses digital and film-based technologies to make single and multiple screen works that explore our relationship to landscape and environment. There’s also a huge box of Super 8 films waiting for telecine.
