Lament explores the liminal environment of the Welsh borderlands and examining ideas of landscape, identity and loss.

'I was born in this area and some of my earliest memories involve looking west across the border toward the Welsh hills and constructing an imaginary geography. Now I am able to look back eastwards and examine this childhood landscape from a new perspective and in doing so reevaluate my place within it.' Sean Vicary

My work is primarily concerned with ideas of ‘landscape’ (internal and external) and our increasingly politicised interaction with the ‘natural’ world. I use found objects and fragments of detritus to explore this relationship, manipulating these elements in a virtual space to create animated assemblages. These act as triggers for the viewer, sometimes suggestive of a wider narrative or the hidden processes at play behind the visible.

Ceri Rhys Matthews is regarded as one of Wales finest and most innovative folk musicians. He has toured worldwide both as a solo performer and with Fernhill, the group he formed in 1996 Performances on the International stage include the Edinburgh festival, Armagh pipe festival, Hay literature festival and major British Council tours in Vietnam, Libya, the Middle East and Africa. He has written music for television and film including contributing to two BAFTA Cymru award winning film soundtracks, Beautiful Mistake by filmmaker Mark Evans and The Comets Tale by animator Gerald Conn.

In 2005 he set up his own record label and recorded an album of traditional Welsh flute music and spoken word called 'Yscolan' celebrating 'the fabric of the lives of ordinary people, living and dead, as expressed through their anonymous art."'
