APEngine was an online space for debate and discussion across the area of moving image practice from a range of perspectives and a place in which to encounter and engage with different creative and critical ideas. The project ran from September 2009 to April 2011.

Contributors included Hito Steyerl, Bruce La Bruce, Samantha Moore, George Clark, Rosemary Heather, Andrew K�tting, Carol Morley, The Otolith Group, Jo Ann Kaplan, Edwin Rostron, Sarah Turner, Greg Kurcewicz and The Quay Brothers.

Alongside articles and interviews, APEngine commissioned the Rough Machine films which can be viewed on this site. The archive site is still accessible at APEngine.org.

APEngine was supported by the UK Film Council's Publications Fund and the National Lottery though Arts Council England.
