Alistair Gentry's work has been seen and heard in digital media, on radio, television and the stage, in art galleries, at film festivals, in print and on the internet. He makes and shows work across Britain and internationally. Group exhibitions include New Forest Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2005, Blink at Gasworks Gallery, London, in 2006, and other shows and festivals in the UK, Hong Kong, China, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Norway, Canada, the United States and Japan.

From 2006 to 2007, he was artist in residence at the ESRC Genomics Policy and Research Forum in Edinburgh. A book of images from his video installation Three Times True was published in August 2007. He spent autumn and winter of 2007 in China as one of the first four foreign artists in residence at He Xiangning Art Museum's Contemporary Art Terminal in Shenzhen. While there, he made Video With National Characteristics.
