AnimateTV DVD
20 Years of Experimental Animation from the UK
The AnimateTV DVD draws together a unique selection of films to represent the incredible range of experimental practice accomplished in the UK in the past 20 years.
An illustrated booklet includes essential essays by Adam Pugh, former Director of the Aurora Festival Norwich and Dick Arnall, former producer of the AnimateTV project.
'These 23 selected films are unashamedly artful, adult fare that implicitly call for a reappraisal of what the form is capable of… Highly recommended.' Phil Harrison, Time Out London, October 2010.
'I was seduced by maverick visions, surprised by honesty and fell in love with the breathtaking AnimateTV DVD - I'm proud to be a part of it.' Chris Shepherd, Director of Who I Am and What I Want and Dad's Dead.

Reviews
'Among the highlights is Paul Bush’s ‘Furniture Poetry’, a formalist experiment in the visual delights of using stop frame to alter the position, size and colour of chairs and tables, fruit and crockery. Mark Simon Hewis uses a fairground ride to create his ‘Life Size Zoetrope’. Three of Phil Mulloy’s bitterly funny and disturbing ‘Cowboys’ series of drawn animations are included, as is a typically, darkly comic piece – ‘Who I Am and What I Want’ – from David Shrigley and Chris Shepherd. Also included is a 1999 piece by Tim Macmillan, who invented the time-slice technique for frozen motion best known from the ‘Matrix’ movies and numerous adverts since. ‘Ferment’ is a more thoughtful trip in and out of people’s homes and events on the streets of a town, presumably meant to be happening all at the same time.'
Iain Millar, The Art Newspaper, September 2010
'Peddling a brand of animation notable for its dark humour and restless, relentless inventiveness. These 23 selected films are unashamedly artful, adult fare that implicitly call for a reappraisal of what the form is capable of… Highly recommended.' 5 stars.
Phil Harrison, Time Out Londo, October 2010
